Discerning God's Voice

How to Discern the Voice of God from the Voice of the Mind

One of the most frequent questions I'm asked is this: "How do I know if it's God speaking or just my own mind or ego?"

It's a sincere question, and an important one. We live in a world saturated with noise. Our thoughts race, our emotions tug, and the ego mimics authority with unsettling precision. So how do we tell the difference between Divine guidance and mental chatter?

The voice of God is only heard when the other voices are silent.

God Does Not Compete for Volume

The ego shouts. The mind argues. But God does not raise His voice. He waits for stillness, because stillness is His dwelling place.

He doesn't shout over your fears. He doesn't debate your logic. He doesn't force His way into the conversation. His voice comes when we are still enough to hear it.

The Inner Knowing

Unlike the ego's need for attention or the mind's need for validation, the voice of God brings peace without explanation. It may come as a prompting, a vision, a feeling, or a knowing that cuts through all doubt.

It's not about ego gratification, it's about soul elevation. It never shames, but it calls us higher. It doesn' t argue, but it transforms.

How to Hear Him More Clearly

If you wish to hear God's voice more clearly, the path is not effort but stillness.

The voice of God is not found in the noise of the world, but in the silence beneath it.

A Final Thought

Many miss God's voice because they expect thunder, but He comes as a whisper. Many look for signs in the world, but He speaks within.

When we listen with the heart, not just the ears, we realize: He has never stopped speaking. He's only been waiting for us to become quiet enough to hear.
